Invasive Weeds of Southern Alberta

In this series I am creating small highly detailed watercolour paintings in the centre of 1.027x1.027meter paper.

I began first with a well known invasive species that many would recognize, the dandelion. As all of my small studies from assignment 2 are of this, I thought it would be a perfect starting point for my larger series.

I am wondering if perhaps it is too big on the page.

My next painting is of a slightly less well known plant called Broadleaf Plantain or “Whitemans Foot” it took me a little longer to create due to outside events however I’m very pleased with how it turned out. Looking back I’m pretty happy with the size of the dandelion in regards to the paper so I opted to keep this one similar. Here are some process pictures.

And the final result! I’m very happy with this one.

First Critique:

Third painting of Black Henbane. Took me longer than I wanted it to and I had some setbacks but it looks so nice!

Fourth painting of Creeping Bellflower. I love how dainty this one looks on the page!

My show on the 8th floor wall:

I love how this looks on the expansive white wall! I think 4 is the perfect amount for the wall because none of the pieces are covered by the wall on the other side.

Finally, here they are up for final critique.
