Project Proposal

 My goal for this semester is to create highly detailed drawings or paintings of invasive species of plants in Alberta. I want to create these pieces fairly small, no bigger than five inches large with lots of negative space around each plant. This will represent how it just takes one plant going to seed to completely take over a space. I am also trying to bring to light less obvious human impacts on the environment. I will be creating these images on 4ft by 4ft papers. I am going to try to have at least 10 done by midterms.

I have also started to collect a series of images of each plant. I find it interesting how few full photos there are of these plants as most that I have found are just close ups of the leaves, flowers, or berries.

 

I do have some repeats however I can’t make up my mind which image I like more. All of these were not taken by me however with a bit of digging on google you should be able to find these.
